Movies about gamers are few and far between. In fact, realistically speaking, there’s only been one that’s ever seen a genuinely wide release, and that would be The Wizard.
Noobz is hoping to reverse that trend, or at least have a movie that doesn’t expect us to accept that you could use the Power Glove for anything other than cosplay. And we’ve got a behind-the-scenes clip!
Here’s writer and director Blake Freeman speaking a bit about the movie, and Casper Van Dien (playing himself) looking a lot like Kurt Russell.

As for the finished product, here’s the trailer:
We have to admit, there are few films that truly mine the comedy of angry, profane children, so we’ll be curious to see the rest of the movie. We also have to give them credit for tracking down an actual license; part of the reason so many movies about nerd culture choke is they try to evoke golden nostalgic feelings about Wolfninja and the Z-Men, so Gears of War being involved in this is a big step up.
Speaking of which, we’ll be offering up a review shortly. Or if you want to go in cold, Noobz will be in theaters January 29th.

Is it just me, or is there something… I dunno off, about Jason Mewes? Like his mouth is weird.
Eh, he doesn’t look any weirder than other guys like that I’ve known. Also, the phrase “six feet of vagina repellent” is a useful thing.
Mewes looks terrible.
Jason Mewes isn’t young anymore and all the years of drug abuse just made it worse.
he looks like a guy that did heroin and oxycontin for about a decade straight with his best friend’s money, and is now clean.
so in retrospect, he actually doesn’t look half bad. realistically he SHOULD look like a rail thin Mickey Rourke.
He looks like one of the Columbine Shooters in the poster
This movie looks awesomely bad. I’m debating whether it’s worth seeing in the theater considering it his DVD 5 days later. lol
Well, we’ll know soon enough, I’ve been sent a copy for review and will be doing so.
Looks like 90 minutes of audience repellent.
– slow claps –
I laughed out loud when mewes goes “He’s not dying he cooool” the rest looks like grandma’s boy meets dodgeball so I might get stoned and watch.
don’t forget Road Trip.
this is one of those movies where for no good reason whatsoever I go “ahh fuck it, how bad can it be” and 20 minutes into the movie I’m regretting not aborting myself.
I think it’s super cool that Robin Williams’ daughter is in it though! that’s awesome, she’s pretty cute too. (and yes she was named Zelda because of the game)
