Right on the heels of the first prequel comic hitting stands is a story trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us. And a lot of it is pure, sweet continuity porn.
Here’s the trailer (AGAIN):
But if you can’t watch it until you get home from work, a few items about it that stand out fairly vividly.
- Hal Jordan is running around in yellow armor with the emblem of the Sinestro Corps on the front. Which is interesting since Green Lantern in his normal, green self is a playable character in the game. Later on in the trailer is the implication Batman gets his ass fairly thoroughly kicked by Hal, to the point where Hal has collected a few trophies.
- Wonder Woman and Superman seem to be the bad guys at the start of the game, something we’re sure will reverse. She’s also got the Amazons behind her, and Paradise Island is, perhaps unsurprisingly, an arena in the game.
- Lex Luthor fights what appears to be Hawkwoman at one point in the trailer, which is especially interesting because Hawkwoman isn’t yet announced as a playable character.
- Lex also gets some very Iron Monger-esque gear at some point in the game, in addition to the classic green and purple armor we’ve seen elsewhere.
- Nightwing is in a purple costume for some inexplicable reason, which makes us wonder if they’re going to work Huntress into the game and just using Dick as a stand-in.
- The Joker gets, in what might be one of the more tasteless gags in the game, a crowbar as a fighting weapon. He also drops a reference to not having his camera. Considering the Joker’s dickery starts the entire plot of the game, one suspects he’s probably behind the entire thing.
- Alternate costumes seem to be a theme and may play into the game’s plotline. We see different models for the Joker, Nightwing, Green Lantern, and Lex Luthor.
- Amazons square off against Greek male soldiers at some point, and Wondy seems to have lightning powers, so one suspects Ares will be making an appearance.
- The garden of Wayne Manor also appears to be an arena.
- There’s also a distinct lack of Aquaman.
Anything we missed?

The trailer was removed. Someone is a dick.
boooo.
Joker pulls some pretty evil shit in the prequel comic to setup the story of the game. The first 3 are out in digital form.
Yeah, I have a review of the published version up. It’s pretty cold. But I’m assuming there’s more to it than just the Joker being a bastard.
Haha, yeah. I’m sure it won’t just be, “…and then he was EVIL. MWAHAHA.”
Link to that review?
So, are they trying to make the New 52 costume re-designs look good by comparison with this game? I dunno about this thing.
I think Flash’s looks kinda cool. Joker looks like a 4 year old who tried to put his mommy’s lipstick on.
I’m taking an Elseworlds approach to it. At a guess the armors are designed to reflect who’s currently oppressing humanity.
The Batman costume is…I dunno.
They’re trying to make it look cool but it looks silly.
I’ll remind you, The Jokers New 52 remodel is quite possibly the scariest fucking thing I’ve ever seen.
Probably and alternate timeline thing. We’ll see some of the superheroes from the main line jump in and correct their counterparts.
did i hear ron perelman as slade because if so SQUISSH.
Story seems a bit lame, a bit Red Son but with less Cold War.
the game I wanna play is the intro to DC Universe Online [youtu.be]
Will there be fatalities?
Im glad they are using the same formula they used in the new Mortal Kombat where each chapter you play as a different character. I’ve heard Chapter one is Batman and that the chapters switch between prior to and after Joker detonates the bomb.
I hope Superman has a fatality-type finisher where he grabs his opponent and nonchalantly throws them into the sun.
Wouldn’t that be like having someone spit in your food?
I heard/read somewhere that he has a move where he flies you into space before slamming you back into Earth.
That’s cool. I was thinking throwing them into the sun would be a nice little nod to that craptastic 4th Superman flick where he fights Super Dolph Lundgren.
Looks pretty cool. Not sure how that story works in a fighting game, but I’d like to find out.
I’m getting distinct overtones of Justic Lords from this.
Not a fan of the MK styled fighting’ franchises so as much as i want to play a Justice League game this still looks like one I’ll be skipping.
1) Make this into a movie
2) ????
3) Profit billions of dollars.
4) Give me 10% of earnings for idea
fin
Nice try Shuster’s estate.
As anyone else getting some serious Flashpoint vibes from this?
A bit, yeah. But there’s likely more to it.
