Joseph Gordon-Levitt Takes Johnny Depp's Scraps In 'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For'

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has signed on to Sin City: A Dame To Kill For in the role of Johnny, a “cocky gambler who disguises a darker mission to destroy his most foul enemy at his best game.” The character was not in Frank Miller’s book and was added as an overarching character to bridge the returning characters from the first movie to the Dame To Kill For storyline. Those returning actors include Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson, Jessica Alba, Jaime King, Clive Owen, Jamie Chung, and Bruce Willis. Dennis Haysbert will be replacing Michael Clarke Duncan as Manute.

Additionally, Chris Meloni has just signed on to play a lead character who is a police officer. Deadline says Josh Brolin is also being pursued for another tough guy role in the movie. Hopefully as part of a task force with Christopher Meloni to investigate perps’ phones…

Yes, I will use this photo as often as possible.

This casting news also means Joseph Gordon-Levitt has passed on playing Peter Quill in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy. His role in Sin City was reportedly offered to Johnny Depp first. Apparently the character didn’t have enough clunky jewelry or jaunty hats. Johnny Depp’s gotta have his standards.
