Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is going to have plenty of jumping, sneaking and slicing guys up into party platter sized cubes, but did you know it’s also going to have some RPG elements? You’re going to be able to equip all sorts of weapons, upgrade your skills and so on — nice to know we’ll be getting some depth with our absurd violence.
Hit the jump for a couple videos that detail Metal Gear Rising’s skill upgrades and weapon types…
So yeah, incredibly unfortunate title aside, this game is looking pretty damn good isn’t it? Platinum Games’ stuff usually feels a bit underbaked — as an independent developer they just don’t have a lot of extra time or money to lavish on their games. But a Metal Gear game? I think they’re going to get the opportunity to polish that up nice.
Oh, and hey, here’s an older trailer we never posted that gives you a taste of the game’s suitably wacky storyline…
You know, sometimes I think video games need to grow up and scale back on the violence, but thankfully every once in a while a Metal Gear Rising comes along and sets me straight.

I was psyched for this game until I played the demo. The whole parry thing is frustrating and awkwardly mapped to the attack button. I think this will be a rental.
I kept flinging both sticks in circles and got 451 hit combos on trash cans and lamp posts
This game is depressing.
I wanted a goddamn METAL GEAR game, not this derivative DMC wannabe.
The voice acting/writing are fucking terrible. The free-blade thing is frustratingly awkward and switching it to the other analogue stick only helped a little bit. There is apparently no option un-invert the freeblade camera so when I need it the most I just stand there and look at the pretty clouds while I get slaughtered.
Maybe if the voice acting/cut-scenes weren’t so hilariously awful this wouldn’t feel like shovel-fulls of dirt right in the face of anyone that wanted an actual Metal Gear Solid game. This isn’t the passing of the torch from Snake to Raiden, this is a Metal Gear Abortion.
cant wait…already preordered and paid off. impressed by the demo, sure the parrying takes a minute to master, but once u get it, it opens combat up. big fan of the 80s action movie vibe they got here, def a fan of the not so serious tone…MS4 took itself too seriously while having some of the worst writing, dialogue, and cringe inducing scenes in this generation….Platinum has another winner on their hands
So what everyone is saying is that this isn’t a good game? As an Xbox owner, that sucks; I really wanted a new MGS game.
Revengeance WTF? That’s a stupid word, we hardly need a portmanteau of Revenge and Vengeance, they mean the same thing. It’s shit like this that makes people say Video games make you dumber.
Looks like this game has a bit more depth than I thought it would after seeing initial trailers once Platinum Games took over. Makes me happy.
I can’t get over the hair. Shave it off, you look like a troll.
