‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ Brings Multiplayer Gang Warfare To Gotham City

Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City were pretty okay games, but obviously they weren’t true triple-A titles, because they both lacked a tacked-on multiplayer mode. Well, Batman: Arkham Origins solves that problem!

All snark aside though, the Arkham Origins mutliplayer mode actually looks fairly promising. Hit the jump for some details and a trailer…

The mutliplayer mode is called Invisible Predator and has you joining one of three factions — a gang of three led by Bane, another gang of three led by the Joker or Batman and Robin. As one of the two gangs, you have to take checkpoints and defend them king-of-the-hill style against attacks from your rival gang, while also looking out for that sneaky Bat-fellow. On the other hand, as Batman and Robin your goal is to stealthily take down as many members of the gangs as possible, so there’s some interesting asymmetric gameplay going on.

Looks better than your average triple-A multiplayer mode, although I can see fights over who gets to be Batman destroying a friendship or two. Who wants to be some random Joker thug (or worse, some random Bane thug) when you can be the Dark friggin’ Knight?
