Recently Variety reported that Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are Marvel’s top picks to play the titular hero in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man. This has brought out a rumor we’re doubting while wishing it were true. Superhero Movies News says a source told them last year that Edgar Wright wanted to cast Paul Rudd, and the same source later named another potential cast member: Rashida Jones as Janet Van Dyne, AKA The Wasp.
The source says, “Janet will be a love interest and a major supporting character, we would see multiple references to her future as The Wasp throughout the film.” […] Parks & Recreation star Rashida Jones is on top of Marvel’s shortlist […] for her “chemistry with the other actors.” [Superhero Movies News]
Rashida Jones has worked with Paul Rudd in I Love You, Man and Our Idiot Brother. Marvel’s current Star-Lord, Chris Pratt, was also in the latter of those movies. Like I said, we have doubts that the highly-GIFable Rashida Jones is a lock for The Wasp, but we can dream of the day when we could say The Wasp was “calling on all men to show me dat ass”.
