‘The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug’ Drops A New Trailer, Production Diary, And More

That is some good pipeweed.

Warner broadcasted a live fan event late yesterday afternoon (third video below), in which they found another way to squeeze an additional hour of content from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. More importantly, they later released a more tightly edited theatrical trailer and production diary. The previous two trailers are available here and here.

This new trailer offers another second of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Smaug at the end. All we need is about 20 more trailers like this and we’ll have our Cumbersbumberswumbers cured.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens December 13th.

And here is the newest production diary from Peter Jackson. Check out Ian McKellen dropping F-bombs at 2:50 and Evangeline Lilly offering death around the 6:30 mark.

Here’s the full fan event. We don’t expect you to want to watch it, but it’s there all the same.

Warner has also released a huge batch of posters:

Okay, this one is actually from The Shiznit, and it’s glorious. The large version is available over there. Even the smoke dragon has a little hat!

Continue on for the real posters from that batch, as this post — much like The Hobbit — is a segmented journey. (We promise this won’t last nine hours.)

Hmmm, that poster could really use some jaunty hats.
