DROP IT, CREEPS. We’ve got the first clip from the remake of RoboCop. We esteemed members of the Pen 15 Club have been cautiously optimistic about the remake. On one no-longer-robotic hand, it’s PG-13 and seems to have little to do with saving Detroit and more to do with critiquing the use of drones. On the other hand, it has Samuel L. Jackson and the director of the face-meltingly kick ass Elite Squad 2.
In the clip below, RoboCop is having a gunfight with several of Omnicorp’s EM-208 humanoid drones while Mattox (Jackie Earle Haley) attempts to shoot him. Some of director Jose Padilha’s humor is hinted at when Mattox says what the audience is probably thinking, “Whatever you do, don’t get shot in the face.” Good advice, Rorschach.
RoboCop opens February 7th, 2014.
