‘The Flash’ Casts Two Major Supervillains

If there’s one thing we love about Arrow, it’s that it’s not shy to make with the supervillains, however tweaked they might be. And the upcoming pilot for The Flash is not only willing to have bad guys, they’re willing to have a lot of bad guys.

The CW has just announced two more cast members for The Flash, and they’re both pretty interesting to comics nerds. Here’s the casting loglines, according to Deadline:

Rick Cosnett (The Vampire Diaries) plays star Detective Eddie Thawne, a recent transfer to the Central City Police Department, whose past is a mystery and who harbors a dark secret. Danielle Panabaker (Shark) plays Caitlin Snow, a highly intelligent bioengineering expert who lost her fiancé during an explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs.

Eddie Thawne is better known as Reverse-Flash in most DC continuity, a super-villain with a lot of ties to Flash mythology. He also has, among other powers, the ability to travel through time, so this could get interesting fast.

Caitlin Snow, meanwhile, has just been introduced as the new Killer Frost, which is attention-getting not least because she’s not generally a Flash foe: She’s usually fighting Firestorm. So that could be a hint that this series is going to pack in some heroes, as well, especially since DC has been pushing Killer Frost lately.

It’s a pretty interesting set of announcements, although it’s not clear if they’re regular cast members or just guest stars the show will pick up if it goes to series. Either way, it’s nice to see them not screwing around with the villains, unlike some other comic book-based TV shows we could name.
