Evangeline Lilly In Talks For A Multi-Movie Role Starting With ‘Ant-Man’

Evangeline Lilly, who most recently played Tauriel in The Hobbit, is now in talks with Marvel to play the female lead in Ant-Man. We’ve heard rumors about Janet Van Dyne (The Wasp) being introduced, and we’ve also heard the female lead might be Hank Pym’s daughter, a character not in the comics. Now Variety and THR offer an update.

Variety suggests Evangeline Lilly would be playing both the daughter of Hank Pym and Scott Lang’s love interest. Meanwhile, THR says it’s “unclear who Lilly will play but it is not intended to be a one-off appearance.” In other words, it’s a character integral enough to appear in multiple movies in Marvel’s Phase Three. I’ll admit to hoping it’s Wasp, although I’ll be as disappointed as this dog if Rashida Jones can’t play her.

Marvel and director Edgar Wright have already signed Paul Rudd to play Scott Lang, Michael Douglas to play Hank Pym, and Michel Pena in an undisclosed role described as a “tough Latino”, and yes, we did joke it was a missed opportunity to cast Michelle Rodriguez.

Ant-Man is set to start production in April for a release date of July 17th, 2015.
