We're Probably Getting Two 'Assassin's Creed' Games This Year, One Of Which Is Set In France

Ubisoft

Hoping the Assassin’s Creed series might slow down and get off the annual installment treadmill? Well, keep hoping, because 2014 looks to be the year we get not one, but two major new Assassin’s Creed games.

Basically Ubisoft is taking an interesting approach to the issue of gamers still being split between the Xbox 360/PS3 and next-gen consoles. Instead of trying to make one game work on both, they’re instead going to create one game for the 360/PS3 and a completely different game for the Xbox One/PS4.

The next-gen version is the one we’re here to talk about today. According to information dug up by Kotaku, the game will likely be called Assassin’s Creed Unity and will take place in France during the French Revolution. Less is known about the 360/PS3 game, codenamed Comet — could it be the Assassin’s Creed game rumored to take place in jolly old England and/or Russia?

Can’t really say too much about the screens since they’re obviously pretty early/rough, but the French Revolution really does cry out of the Assassin’s Creed treatment. I also kind of like the “two different games for the two generations” approach, although man, two Assassin’s Creeds in one year? Really?
