You have to feel bad for Hulu. It’s owned by two companies that fear Internet streaming, one that would very much like to kill streaming services to overcharge you elsewhere, and some equity firm. That’s making it pretty hard to compete with all those other streaming services, like Netflix. And…and…uh…Netflix.
Anyway, Hulu was hoping to sell itself to some tech company that might actually make use of it, but the problem was that the TV networks that own it didn’t want to extend any TV exclusivity to any buyers because they don’t realize most people will just torrent it if they can’t get it off of Hulu.
So, for now, the sale is off and Hulu will just have to figure out how to make itself more attractive to a wider range of customers. Or get shut down once Comcast can get away with it. Either way.
