As you may have heard, the owner of an “exotic animal” farm in Ohio set free his entire cast of animals last night just prior to killing himself. Dozens of wild animals were let loose in total, and rather than taking them down with tranquilizers, authorities in Ohio shot and killed most of them. The photo above that was posted to Twitter a few minutes ago by AFP photographer Alex Ogle shows the end result of the carnage.
Law officers shot 48 animals and buried them on the property, including 18 tigers, nine lions, eight lionesses, three mountain lions, six black bears, two grizzly bears and a baboon, (Muskingum County Sheriff Matt ) Lutz said during a news conference at a makeshift operations center near the Thompson property. A gray wolf and monkey were still loose, and the monkey may be carrying a virus, Lutz said.
Great. Just freaking great. There are only about 1400 bengal tigers left on the planet and 18 of them were killed today in Ohio.

Pretty fucked up, but to be fair to the cops- what police station would have enough tranquilizers and training to take down ten wild animals, let alone 50? I blame the ass who let them free, and the state for letting him have them in the first place.

What I want to know is how the fuck does one buy an endangered Bengal Tiger? There are professionals out there working hard to keep the species from going extinct in the wild and this guy buys them up for the hell of it.

Newsflash, an animal doesn’t immediately pass out when shot with a tranquilizer dart. Some of them take half an hour to an hour to take full effect. Also, it was in a suburban area, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT and these were wild animals. It sucks, but don’t blame the cops for y’know…PROTECTING humans. You sound like one of those PETA cunts.

Don’t ever change, Ohio.And yet if one of the 18 Bengal Tigers had mauled someone while the cops were waiting for someone to show up with enough tranquilizers to knock out a combined total of several tons of predator, I’m sure this article would have been excoriating the police for NOT shooting them. It’s a sad ending, but not as sad as it could have been.

In my community we have contingency plans for any unwarranted situation or foreseeable threats….for YEARS…..they have known this farm has been an issue….I am sorry but Lutz and all his deputies should be fired….”shoot to kill” is not a contingency plan…this was unacceptable behavior and by that nature poor planning…..this is sorry excuse for law enforcement….and this community should be ashamed of his actions

As an amateur taxidermist and expert wild game chef, this is a doubly disturbing tragedy for me. All those valuable pelts and delicious meats buried? What a fucking waste!
In my area, we have a contingency plan for exactly this sort of thing – Ted Nugent on speed dial. The deal is: he flies over in his private jet, parachutes into the drop zone with his compound bow and a quiver full of hunting arrows. Optional services include on site gutting, skinning, and trimming of the shanks and sirloins.
This is just plain insanity. As far as I am concerned what the police did was terrible an truly sad. There had to be a better way. I understand the terrible danger that this posed to the public and who knows what could have happened, but who the hell allowed this mental case to have these type of animals? They should really be punished since we cannot punish the lunatic that offed himself. The entire situation is a travesty and it sucks. The animals deserved a life too and in the end they even turned on one another. WTH, I heard that one animal killed another animal before being killed himself. I realize this is what animals do in the wild, which is my point as to exactly why the town and / or city should have never allowed this situation to happen in the first place. It’s a damn shame……….
If this was the best solution that these retard hunters/police force could come up with was to hunt down and destroy these exotic animals was complete bullshit!!!! I guess in OHIO were police are to incompetent to think of a better solution for these animals. Yes i get public safety first, but there could have been a better way to handle this infortuante situation.To the hunters and police force u guy’s are a complete joke.Maybe next time try to think outside of your little box that u live in.
