What you see above is the Obama White House’s 2011 Christmas card. See Bo the family dog getting warm by the fire? See all the presents and Christmas-y decorations? It sort of looks like a Norman Rockwell painting, doesn’t it? I mean, regardless of political belief, who could possibly find fault with this card?
The official White House holiday card makes no mention of the word ‘Christmas’ and instead focused on Bo the First Dog based on the wishes of the First Family.
“From our family to yours, may your holidays shine with the light of the season,” read the inside of the card, featuring the presidential seal.
The front of the card features Bo the First Dog lounging by a fireplace. Holiday greenery is draped over the fireplace mantle. Holiday presents are placed on a table underneath a poinsettia – instead of a Christmas tree.
Adds squawky Alaskan hell-muppet Sarah Palin about the lack of a tree, “It’s odd…American foundational values illustrated and displayed on Christmas cards and on a Christmas tree…It’s just a different way of thinking coming out of the White House.”
Nevermind that presidential administrations of both parties have been issuing secular holiday cards for over 100 years now.

Presidents known for their strongly-held Christian beliefs did not break the secular tradition. Ronald Reagan, an outspoken Christian who was president at a time when evangelical groups like the Moral Majority gained increased influence in politics, also sent out Christmas cards that made no reference to Christ.
George W. Bush, also a Christian, sent out “Happy Holiday” cards instead of Christmas cards, although his included Bible verses. Nonetheless, many cultural commentators believe phrases that do not specifically reference “Christmas” are a result of a “war on Christmas,” and Bush was criticized for his generic holiday cards.
Now, just curious — I wonder what the official 2011 Fox News Christmas card looks like? Surely, they wouldn’t think to not include a Christmas tree, would they?

It really is impressive how they can go from “OMG OBAMA ISN’T CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS, WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS?!” to “OMG OBAMA HAS 37 CHRISTMAS TREES IN THE WHITE HOUSE, WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS?” and back again without ever realizing the contradictions.
All Christmas means to this clan is another 4 million $$ vacation which they dod not have to pay for. I wonder how many families could live for a year on that wasted $$. Oh what the hell……”let them eat cake!”.

The destination is not out of line with past presidents. He is bringing more White House staff (to work more) and the Secret Service has determined that security needs are greater than in the past.
