Vanity Fair’s Hollywood issue is always eye-catching and this year the online version has gotten interactive while paying tribute to some of our favorite character actors like Stephen Root, Margo Martindale, Richard Jenkins, Judy Greer, and J.K. Simmons. Go to VanityFair.com and scroll over each actor in Sam Jones’s photo for a mini bio and reminder why you’re a fan of their work.
Doing so I was reminded that Danny Trejo’s big break came from being hired as an armed robbery consultant for Heat. Bad. @ss. Shooter McGavin’s if-Guy-Fieri-was-a-starving-magician look remains a mystery though.

When did Shooter McGavin turn into a vampire?
When he ate Happy’s piece of shit for breakfast.
A couple observations:
- Judy Greer is even hotter now that I picture her as Cheryl/Carol.
- How funny is it that the guy who played J. Jonah Jameson is doing the Spiderman-crouch pose
The should all be cast in an R-rated remake of Ocean’s Eleven. Only instead of being all sneaky and planning everything they just fuck shit up with their awesomeness and badassery.
Seconded.
Also, VE needs to do some better fact checking. For Clancy Brown alone, Kurgan was not a time-traveler, he was immortal and his character in Shawshank wasn’t the warden, he was captain of the guard. :soapbox:
I will always and forever recognize Christopher McDonald as “Goose” from Grease 2 first. Then as Shooter McGalvin second. Sad.
Needs more Boyd Crowder.
how did Stephen Tobolowsky not make it on here??
Needle Nose Ned? Ned the Head?
if you guys have ever seen The Face is Familiar on Netflix it talks about all these great character actors, truly great stuff!
