UPROXX favorite, the emotionally available Jon Hamm, dropped by The Late Show last night, ostensibly to discuss his new movie Friends with Kids and the return of Mad Men, but as conversations with the Hamm-bone often do, things diverged into fun anecdotes on how one goes about getting repeatedly injured on the set of an office drama and what it’s like to catch fastballs from Roger Clemens.
In other words, it was classic Hamm. And I see no reason we shouldn’t be best friends. Dave can tag along for a beer as well. He really seemed to enjoy the Hammster’s baseball stories.
Both clips after the jump, along with my new favorite Sterling Archer Draper Pryce entry as an added bonus. Full Late Show episode here.
“I’m gonna pull the old fake broken hand gag…”
“It just appears in your mit, then it hurts. A lot.” UPDATE: Deadspin is also calling bullsh*t.

I loved when he put on Paul’s ridiculous glasses.
Maybe I’m just a dummy but couldn’t find a clip of this, only in the “full show” form. Moral of the story though: Hamm is awesome.
I don’t know I thought this Sterling Archer Draper Pryce was better…[s3.amazonaws.com]
It’s like picking your favorite child over there. That one is brilliant too.
Here’s the thing: Hamm was (or claims to have been) born in 1971. Roger Clemens was born in 1962 and was already pitching in the majors in 1984, when Hamm was 13. How would Hamm have crossed paths with Clemens at Univ. of Texas? Has Hamm been lying about his age? (Always thought he looks a bit older than 40.)
The age difference crossed my mind too but I didn’t take the time to do the research. Hamm’s dad’s death and his transferring from Texas to Mizzou is pretty well documented ([en.wikipedia.org]) so I don’t think he’s lying about his age. I would have to guess it’s just a fun fabrication, which makes him a liar, but in a raconteur sort of way.
Clemens has always notoriously gone back to Texas baseball practices though, so maybe Hamm did catch some for him. If we ever interview him this will be the first hard-hitting question tossed at him.
Deadspin is calling bullsh*t as well: [deadspin.com]
Yep, I’m the one who sumbitted it to Deadspin. … Good call on Clemens going back to UT from time to time, though. I bet that’s it.
