Remember a few weeks ago when Rush Limbaugh was being his usual gross and disgusting self on AM radio and charged that women who use birth control are sluts? Of course you do.
Well, in an desperate effort to defend Limbaugh, Fox News’ assorted shouty muppets decided to point out people on the left who once said bad things about women, so they latched on to the fact that Bill Maher and Louis C.K. had both called Sarah Palin a “c*nt” at some point.
At the time, C.K. was scheduled to host this year’s White House Radio & TV Correspondents Dinner, so Frankensteinian Palin pal Greta van Susteren called for a boycott of the event. Shortly thereafter, C.K. announced that he was dropping out as host, without making comment. But now he’s finally decided to speak up about.
Reports The Wrap:
Earlier this month, at the height of the outrage over Rush Limbaugh calling a college student a slut, Susteren trotted out six-month old tweets from C.K. in which he said ridiculously filthy and over-the-top things about Sarah Palin. Van Susteren was appalled, just appalled, that this ‘pig’ – C.K. – was the host of the upcoming Radio and Television Correspondents’ Assn. Dinner in Washington.
C.K. shrugged it off, and the dinner, too. He didn’t much care about the gig, and didn’t want a fight. So he just bailed out, never mentioned Susteren by name or the reason for his exit.
‘I wasn’t going to stand there and defend something I din’t really feel like doing anyway,’ he told TheWrap. ‘I wasn’t that excited about it, I didn’t want to cause them problems, I didn’t think it was what they invited when they hired me. And I didn’t think about it much. It was like one morning I woke up, I heard there was static. I’m in production, so I have no reason to be in conflict with anybody right now.’”
In other words, Louis C.K. didn’t give a sh*t enough to be bothered by bullsh*t. Too bad others don’t have the same outlook on life.

IDK, as much as I think it was very classy of him to bow out before engaging in the sh*tstorm, I think I would be pretty excited to host the White House Correspondent’s Dinner.
For what it’s worth, he also called a male deer a cunt once.
Anyway, good man. Louie again proves himself to be a very down-to-earth, reasonable guy. Hey, wait a second… if Louie bowed out of hosting this gig, then doesn’t that mean Rush Limbaugh should have to give up his show too? I mean, if Greta insists on equating the two, then it only seems fair…
So it’s “gross and disgusting” to call someone a slut but no big deal to call someone a “c*nt”?
I like Louie and his decision not to cause a problem but the hypocrisy of the person writing this article makes me want to punch him in the dick. Either it’s ok for people to say what they want or it’s not. The Right only brought attention to Louie and Maher because the Left pitched such a bitch fit over Limbaugh’s comments even though their complaints were so incredibly hypocritical.
Despite the relative power of the words themselves, slut is a worse insult. “Cunt” is a very general slur, with no real meaning other than “person (probably woman) I hate.” “Slut” is an assertion about someone’s actual character/behavior, and was used by Rush to basically discount Fluke’s argument as just being that of some worthless slut (whose sex tapes Rush would very much like to see).
Also, for what it’s worth, Louie was drunk off his ass and tweeting from a plane when he said what he said, not semi-seriously examining an item of news on a nationally syndicated radio show.
None of that is to say that Louie didn’t deserve to take some heat for what he said, nor is it to say that Rush deserves to be taken off the air for the “slut” comment, but come on, Rush’s was clearly the worse of the two.
And technically, Louis didn’t call Palin a cunt; he called her a “jackoff cunt-FACE jazzy wondergirl.”
Which is clearly something that should be taken very seriously.
The difference is that Palin really is Cunt – a cunty, cunt, cuntfaced, cunt, with shit for brains. Meanwhile, neither I, nor Rush has any idea if that law school chick was a slut or not.
@JJ Junior Shabz, he did call Sarah Palin a cunt, on a wonderful bit on Opie&Anthony. The big difference in my opinion is, however, that Rush Limbaugh called the girl a slut because he meant it, saying that “people who need to use birth control must be sluts”. Louis is a comedian and didn’t mean anything or had an argument in which the word cunt was necessary, it is the same as calling someone a dick because you don’t like them, whereas Limbaugh implied that girls/women who use birth control are sluts, because (in his argument) they have sex so many times and with so many different men, that they should be defined as sluts. So, imo it has nothing to do with left or right, but with the meaning the words are used for.
Ahh, I never heard about the Opie & Anthony thing; thought this was all about those tweets.
Let’s see who can tell the difference: Sarah Palin is a national figure with a national platform who exploits controversy and divisiveness for political and personal gain, and who once inferred that most citizens of this country, especially non-whites, weren’t “real americans.” In crude fashion, Louis C.K. briefly called her out, Sandra Fluke is a private citizen who once testified before congress. For three days Limbaugh went on his national show and made things up about her sex life in the most demeaning and insulting way possible. If you equate these two circumstances you’re an idiot. And Palin is a cunt.
Very well-put.
Everything what he said!
