Few things are funnier than when Fox News and its “journalists” do something so revolting, so blatantly not “fair and balanced” that the company desperately tries to walk it back, as they say, usually going to great lengths to scrub evidence of whatever revolting thing they did from the internet in the process. But what these bumbling goons always seem to fail to realize is this: the internet does not forget.
With that said, this morning on Fox & Friends the folksy raw vegetables who host the show played a 4-minute video — a “look back at the president’s first term to see if it lived up to hope and change” is how the vacant space in the middle described it — that comes off as something put together by the propaganda minister of a totalitarian regime, complete with menacing music and scary video filters. The whole thing is so ridiculous that it’s nothing short of hysterical — it’s pretty much beyond parody. Of course, the witless Fox & Friends gang naturally lauded the producer who’d spent two weeks essentially making a Republican attack ad presented as an actual work of “journalism,” even dropping his name (Chris White) in case the people who dole out Emmy nominations were watching or something.
But then after the internet — including many conservative bloggers, to their credit — went apesh*t over it, Fox News began scrubbing the segment from it’s website and issuing takedown notices when it popped up on other places. Below is a newish YouTube embed of the segment — watch it while you still can…
But here’s the best part: Fox News’ VP of programming, Bill Shine, issued a statement this afternoon throwing a junior level producer under the bus: “The package that aired on ‘Fox & Friends’ was created by an associate producer and was not authorized at the senior executive level of the network,” Shine said. Um, okay? So how did it get on the air then? Can anyone who works at Fox News get 4-minute videos they made on the air there?
Meanwhile, I can’t wait to see what the Daily Show does with this. Never change, Fox News. Never change.

Steve Doocy has the most punchable face on TV. Put him on any show on any network and I’d want to hit him with a bag of bricks.
Despite our disagreement over which 90s star is face-punchier – Dawson or Morris – you are correct here, as this asshat tops them all.
His last name is perfect, too.
SOOOOO incredibly punchable.
Piggybank! Watch out for those stairs! Piggybank? NOOOOOOOOOO!
I love that the asshat producer decided to score this propaganda blast with apocalyptic doom-horror music that would have been more appropriate for one of The Omen films. There’s even a red-alert end-of-the-world siren popped in if you listen closely. Then it’s over, and the three stooges chug down the kool-aid right on cue, all with expressions on their faces stating, “Yes… yes… mmm-hmm… yes.” Heaven knows that both “sides” (including mine) have extremist know-it-all cumwads that embarrass the less partisan members, but seriously… do we have an example of the left having to retract finger-wagging adverts from their own bought and paid for network due to excessive douchebaggery? Not that I’m aware of. Christ…
The fact that this video ridicules people who use food stamps while simultaneously highllighting increased food prices and people without any savings just really spot on characterizes the searing douchebaggery branded across these mouth-breathers’ foreheads.
Wow. I knew that video would have to be truly terrible for FOX to try to distance themselves from themselves, and I was not disappointed. Every day, FOX airs proof their primary goal is to sell a narrative which they back-fill with “news” and “facts” (like video of what they say are violent protests in Wisconsin in January that isn’t from the right year and features palm trees blowing in the wind). This blatant agenda works for them because their loyal viewers are so desperate for that narrative to be true that they’re apparently willing to overlook the errors, the lies, and the psychotic googly-eyed expressions of these hosts.
The wait for Stewart/Colbert tonight will be long, indeed.
Every day I go to the gym and see at least a couple old people watching this s*** network, and a part of me dies.
I love how much emphasis there is on bacon in this video – Ground Beef, prices up! BACON! prices up! “Everyday items are shooting through the roof!” – SHOT OF BACON! Piggy banks everywhere, but when they fall down stairs do they turn into more bacon? NOT IN OBAMA’S AMERICA!
All of the most convincing fiscal arguments are pork based.
HAHA…I somehow failed to notice that, probably because I was too busy trying to pick my jaw up off the floor.
I think it’s fair to say that I’ll vote for whichever candidate can promise me bacon coming out of broken piggy banks.
Heh, they politicized bacon. The outcome of a brainstorming session was “bacon represents goodness, so there.”
Has anyone here ever watched MSNBC. It’s just as bad as FoxNews, except for they jizz their pants every time Obama opens his mouth. But whenever Romney gives a speech, the claws and fangs come out. The FCC needs to implement a law that says 24-hour stations must disclose their political leanings, much like newspapers have always done. Especially since everyone chooses to get their “news” from these places.
BECAUSE IT’S SO HARD TO FIGURE IT OUT FOR OURSELVES AM I RIGHT!?
I’m in total agreement with you that MSNBC has a left-leaning bias. No argument there. (Whether or not there should be a *law* demanding they disclose this is a can of worms I’ll choose not to open, let alone the fact that the FCC, part of the executive branch, can’t pass laws.) However, their anchors–Maddow, Hays, Shultz, etc.–don’t make any attempt to hide this. They never claim to be “fair and balanced” and in fact will often admit on air to being progressive and to holding certain views. More importantly though, MSNBC doesn’t issue top-down memos directing content and phrasing in the same way that Fox News does ([goo.gl]).
So on one side, you have a network claiming neutrality that directs it’s employees to tow a party line, and on the other you have a network that hires people of a certain political leaning who are honest about their views. But no, it’s “just as bad” because false equivalences are fun and easy.
I don’t understand why they’re trying to bury this. Doesn’t seem any different from anything else one sees on Fox News, except this hack producer slapped a bunch of overused filters and cheesy graphics on it.
