If you spent any time on the internet yesterday, you know that it was “Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day” — a day for people who tend to vote for the likes of Sarah Palin and Rick Santorum to express their political views by eating chicken sandwiches. Conversely, if you did not eat at Chick-Fil-A yesterday, then that means you support the gays. Don’t blame me — I didn’t draw these lines in the sand — but they now exist. Eat at Chick-Fil-A and you might as well slap a “Don’t Tread On Me” bumper sticker on your car. I know this because I am on Facebook, where friendships were being ripped apart left and right yesterday over what people did and didn’t have for lunch. ![]()
I’m sure that the grandchildren of the people who made a point to eat at Chick-Fil-A yesterday will be so proud 30-40 years down the line, just like the grandchildren of people who made a point to eat at “whites only” lunch counters back in the day beam with pride over grandma and grandpa’s stance against blacks having equal rights.
Anyway, Conan brought back “Chaz the Intolerant Chick-Fil-A Chicken” to commemorate the day. Enjoy…

That sad face emoticon sums up my feelings about humankind yesterday perfectly.
I’m working in my company’s UK office this week tried to explain “Chic-Fil-Gay-Gate” as best as I objectively could to several people in the office. The responses were, “Heh, that’s Americans for ya.” and “Your people sound like they have too much time on their hands.”
I’m in total agreement with both of these statements.
(Also, I dedicated the use of “Gate” to Danger.)
Don’t call it that.
I love how Chaz has a stereotypical Southern gay man’s accent. I keep expecting him to break character and come out of the chicken coop.
I really hate how mundane, everyday activities have become politicized by culture warriors on the left and right. I support gay marriage, but I’m still going to eat at Chick-fil-a every now and then.
I guess eating waffle fries makes me George Wallace. Sigh.
Chick-fil-a is delicious. Nobody expects you to be perfect.
