Guns! We, as a nation, should maybe have a reasoned, intelligent, adult conversation about them to perhaps consider reevaluating their availability, right? Surely, what with all the gun violence that continues to plague this country, we can all agree on that, right?
Wait, what’s that, Fox News? It’s “too soon?” It’s always too soon, isn’t it? And what’s that…everyone’s got better things to do anyway and they’ve no time to be bothered by such a heavy discussion, EVER? Stupid Bob Costas! How dare he try to make us all stop and think, for once.
Okay, all jokes aside, thanks a lot Fox News for actually making me sympathize with Bob Costas, for once.
Here’s part one of the Daily Show‘s segment on the new war on Bob Costas…
And here’s part two…

Let me preface this by saying that Fox News is completely bat shit crazy. That being said what Costas did wasn’t a reasoned, intelligent, adult conversation, it was sanctimonious preaching at all the people who “would never have perspective” in a forum that nobody could respond to until after the fact. He said “If they didn’t have guns they would both be alive” which is a comment so ridiculous I don’t even know where to start. There is certainly no problem with reasoned discussion about the topic of firearms but when there are crazies like members of the NRA who think that you should be able to buy a rocket launcher with no wait period and then people like Costas who seem to think that guns are the sole method of hurting other people its going to be tough
Also, how is Fox News still allowed to use the word news?
That’s the thing…when I was watching that game and Costas came on I was all “SHUT THE FUCK UP BOB COSTAS” but Fox is so ridiculous and over-the-top with their ridiculing of him that they actually make him look more sympathetic.
Nailed it Cajun.
I agree as well, I lean toward the right but Fox News (and I use that term loosely) is so over the top with everything its no wonder that many in the country view anybody on the right as gay-hatin, gun totin, etc. I’m still not sure that the entire network isn’t some elaborately conceived troll job that the super .00001% of the country puts on for fun, like a normal person might play a game of pick-up
Would it shock anyone to see on that channel someday this headline – America: U Mad Bro?
Lets hope Ty Cobb stops by to fair and balance the comments section
What’s the point? Cajun Boy writes this exact same “Fox News is lame” post every other day. I don’t like repeating myself.
The thing is that Costas was quoting a journalist from the Kansas City Star, not espousing his own beliefs.
Then why quote it in the first place?
Probably to avoid this type of reaction by FOX. What he failed to remember is that FOX doesn’t care who he was quoting and attributed the comments to Costas himself. If Costas really wanted to be fair and balanced, he should have quoted someone who encouraged more people to get guns in order to protect themselves from mentally unstable NFL players.
If that was really the reason (and I seriously doubt Costas was thinking about what FOX news was going to say) then not only were his comments ignorant, but cowardly as well. It’s bad enough to sit up on your high horse and espouse a one sided view about perspective (or lack there of) and the gun control laws in the country, but then the second people call you on it, you start claiming that it wasn’t your view but someone elses…if that’s the case why is he talking at all?
Not FOX specifically, but reactionaries like FOX. Has he defended himself? What I said (not Costas) is that he was quoting someone else. Look, I’m not arguing a side, just pointing out that FOX (and you apparently) chose to ignore the fact that Costas was quoting someone else’s views, yet he’s getting the criticism. FOX’s argument was that Costas should stick to sports and not get into the gun control debate, but he wasn’t, hence, their retardism continues to grow, unchecked by its viewers. He says Jason Whitlock like 3 times in the video above.
I’m not ignoring that he was quoting someone else, Whitlock is just as much of an idiot. What I don’t agree with is the idea that the fact that since Costas isn’t the originator of the flawed argument that he should be let off the hook for essentialy supporting that argument by bringing it up in the first place. The only reason for him to bring the article up in the first place is if he shares those views, also regardless of whether its Fox or whatever other reactionary programs the fact that he would choose to quote something rather than bring up his own opinion (Which I believe he did by choosing Whitlocks piece) remains an act of cowardice and he deserves all the backlash hes getting.
That being said FOX is insane
But seriously you guys, fuck Bob Costas.
How did that woman whats-her-face come to the conclusion that Costas doesn’t think Belcher was strong or smart enough to kill someone without a gun? That’s quite a jump.
