This week sucks. We’ve had explosions, presidential assassination attempts and just an overall dearth of happiness. Well tonight doesn’t seem to be any better as Twitter has been on fire over the last hour or so with people reporting about police cars on campus and taped off areas. Now, it’s being reported hat a police officer has been shot and the shooter is on the loose after having stolen the officer’s gun. Sadly, reports later surfaced that the officer has died.
There’s only so many ways I can say that something is horrible news before I start to go a bit crazy. So I’ll just let you take a look at tomorrow’s Red Eye Chicago cover as it sums up everything perfectly.
In the meantime, we’ll keep you updated on the happenings at MIT as the shooter is still on the loose.
Update: Okay, try to bear with us as we try to explain everything that’s happened over the last couple of hours.
– After the MIT shooting, there was a high speed and violent car chase that led to Newtown, Mass. Listening to the police scanner was absolutely terrifying as you could hear police officers yelling about suspects throwing grenades and explosives out of the car, as well as a seemingly wild gunfight.
– It has NOT been confirmed that the MIT shooting, Watertown shootout and Boston Marathon bombings are related. The suspects in Watertown have NOT been identified.
– The good news is that MIT is reporting that the campus is all safe finally.
– According to the scanner, one suspect is in custody but it’s unclear if the second has been apprehended or not.
