Noel Gallagher Blames London Riots On Video Games, Television Violence

Noel Gallagher is an as$hole. This much is abundantly clear. In case anyone had forgotten, he trashed a few prominent bands in a recent Rolling Stone interview, saying that they’d serve their fan bases much better if they covered an Oasis tune now and then. He also trashed his own fans, saying that he like to perform big arena shows so there’s more distance between them and the stage, so he doesn’t have to see their faces.

So Gallagher, now that’s he’s apparently gotten his unfiltered nonsensical brain droppings groove back, couldn’t help but weigh in on the London riots, insisting that violent movies and video games are responsible for the uprising. It appears as if he’s also derived his understanding of how human psychology and poverty work from Glenn Beck.

“We live in this age of violence – and I don’t care what other people say: Brutal TV and brutal video games are a reason for this pointless violence as well. The people are immune to violence, they are used to it. And if they get caught they aren’t punished the right way. The prisons are already full? Then build new ones!

“It’s crazy! It’s just violence for the sake of violence. The people who are at these riots aren’t poor. These are kids with f*cking mobile phones and all sorts of shit. The police and government have to take drastic measures.”

Granted, this isn’t the first time Gallagher has insisted video games are responsible for social problems, but this is the first time he’s sounded like Lou Dobbs. Maybe he can get a job where he plays whiny themes for Fox News. Needless to say, he’s no Russell Brand.
