If you know me at all you know late Thursday afternoons are pretty much when the weekend begins. With that in mind I can’t think of a better way to get things started than by watching/listening to an intoxicated detainee in the back of a Royal Canadian Mounted Police car sing Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” in its entirety, complete with instrumentals.
Is the entire thing six minutes long? Yes. Is it six minutes of unbridled genius? Also yes. What I originally assumed was a Wayne’s World tribute turns out to be inspired by the “brotherhood of men on the planet earth” and the ghost of Freddie Mercury. I can only assume at completion the Mounted Police took him to Tim Hortons for donuts instead of booking him at the station.
UPDATE: The Smoking Gun tracked down our internet hero…
Wilkinson said that he had uploaded the tape earlier this month for the amusement of friends. Wilkinson, who was unaware that the police video had gone viral, said that he is a karaoke singer who has performed all 113 Beatles songs available on karaoke machines. Asked how he was able to recall almost all the “Bohemian Rhapsody” lyrics, Wilkinson sought to display his memory by rattling off a long string of digits in Pi.

If I were those cops, I would be totally conflicted about this. I mean, yes, he is slurring; but he is pretty goddamn accurate with that Queen rendition, as well as passionate. If I were that cop, the whole brotherhood of man thing would have made me drive him home.
Really want to know what he was picked up for. Simple drunk disorderly? You just earned yourself a lift home, son.
Is he allowed a conjugal visit?
This video is so perfectly wonderful, for the excellent rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” of course, but also for the awesome payoff at the end.
First, the way he puts back on his glasses and the smug little pride he takes in the RCMP joke he threw in at the end of the song is so funny.
And that exchange with the cop at the end is sure to go down in internet history…

This person calls a police officer a “cunt” and gets arrested for drunk driving and we applaud him?
