When freakishly armed living legend Madonna performed at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami over the weekend she posed the following question to the audience in attendance: “How many people in this crowd have seen Molly?” In case you didn’t know, “Molly” is slang for ecstasy. Now you know. So hip and edgy, right?
Then, Canadian electronic/dubstep DJ and fan life-changer deadmau5, of all people, took to his Facebook page to blast Madonna for glamorizing drug use. I am not kidding.
seriously, i giveth not a f*cking single F*CK for slating on madonna for reaching an entirely NEW level of idiocy … i can appriciate her meteoric career, and all good deeds done, but WHAT THE F*CK WAS THAT? That’s your big contribution to EDM? Thats your big message to ultra attendies? hipsterspeak for looking for drugs? fuck off you fucking IDIOT. fuck.
He then elaborated further on his Tumblr…
Whether i like it or not, and like every other walk of life, whether you’re becoming an adult, or climbing up the corporate ladder, or blazing a path in your chosen profession, im in a position now where i should be responsible. And yup… i should be a little more careful about what i advocate, and i certainly try to be. being an advocate of something or another certainly has it’s place… drawing promotion towards a good cause, enabling others to do what they desire to do, help others to create something, etc. and all that other good shit.
Im not perfect. i have my vices, and some of them are probably more harmful than a recreational drug or two… but i do know that i am at the very least morally obligated not to blatantly inflict or advocate anything that’s detrimental to society, others health, etc.
…
It really hurts me to see rampant ADVOCATION of extreme bullshit lifestyles to a genre that spans pretty much any age gap these days. Of course, ill always have my opinions about this or that… and yeah, its my personal choice not to do drugs, but im not on a fucking crusade to stamp out other peoples personal choices by no means. fuck being a crusader. Im not pro, or anti drug… but… ill easily let you know that im pro-responsibility.
Its just that simple… you can have an excellent standard of life providing you had a sense of responsibility to yourself, and those around you, REGARDLESS of whatever choices you make in your life… either good or bad (which is the opinion part).
Someone should really tell deadmau5 that people who go to shows waving glowsticks to the beats of a guy wearing a giant, flashing mouse head are probably on ecstasy.

his shirt in that picture at the top is pretty appropriate. i think hemadbro.
Her shirt as well. MDNA, short for Madonna I assume, also a play on MDMA. What a needy old cunt.
” are probably on ecstasy”
or just have good taste in music.
If they had good taste they wouldn’t listen to his music.
HAHAHA WUB WUB WUB BLRRRRRGH
My, my, the_monsier… you are a clever one, aren’t you? I bet you worked for hours on that witty retort, eh? I’m just curious as to what type of totally awesome rockin tunes you listen to. Completely unmockable, I’m sure. HAHAHA SKWEEEWEEEE BANGBANGBANG. Oh, look! I’m just as funny as you now! Life=complete.
You know, there are those of us who really get off on electronic music because we love it. Not because we’re slack-jawed, glassy-eyed, bro-rockin drug addicts. Dmau5 and Skrillex don’t do or advocate drug use because they’ve seen the effects that *ahem* Molly, meth, K and other hardcore drugs can have on a relatively good life, and the downward spiraling that can come with addiction. Sure, some folks can only enjoy dance music if they’re rolling their balls off, and, sure, it’s totally possible to have isolated, heavenly experiences when you combine the two. I just think Dmau5 was pissed off about Madonna reducing his chosen avenue of music to nothing more than a narcotic fountain of youth for her failing relevancy in current pop culture.
Why do I always feel like a f*cking defense lawyer in the UPROXX comments section whenever there’s any article having to do with dance music? Christ.
For the record, I enjoy a lot of dance music — I just think it’s funny to make jokes about it. I think fans of this type of music tend to be overly sensitive to jokes that play on the stereotype. Life’s too short…just roll with it and laugh at it.
no it sucks.
Wow…I can’t believe anyone is on his case gettin at Madonna for her MOM at the teenagers pool party comment. She’s flash and she knows it. She’s gonna be there hit minute and bounce, leaving that genre to suffer from her lameness… Someone must have switched the labels on her meds. She’s a mess…
It is obvious that the majority of rave goers are on drugs. I actually went to a rave yesterday and shared 1 beer and that was that, no drugs. I enjoy just dancing and being out so I went out for the sake of having a life instead of chillin’ for once. I don’t even really like all the music, some not all (it sounds like one long ass song for 6 hours lol).
I see what he means about pro-responsibilty, I don’t nag these grown ass people to make the choices I make, but the ones I went out with (some are not close) I kind of feel like this is the life THEY CHOSE and with the help of sayings like that.. it’s a subconscious cool thing to them. One of the attendees is dating a friend of mine who literally didn’t do drugs. They got together and she felt he was safe to expiriment with. This girl is gonna come up to me and glorify it…. but to me, people who do that— ARE FOOLS TO ME. it’s like someone coming up to me asking for attention. And, with the big star factor madonna has, that can easily glorify it…. like, “ohhhhh this cougar madonna knows what’s up!” lol. but at the same time, deadmau5 is making heeeeellaaaaaaaa money off the same kids….
moral of my long rant is, be responisble. enjoy a good time out, and weigh out your decisions…… we all have some judgment of about everything, but our own judgment is most important.
