Presidents are so much cooler these days. Between Bill Clinton’s smooth sax on the Arsenio Hall Show and Barack Obama’s appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night, we think it’s safe to declare the office of the POTUS a much cooler place to be than it was back when getting stuck in a bathtub (allegedly) was the most entertaining thing a President was doing lately.
On Fallon last night, Obama participated in the “Slow Jam the News” segment, wherein he explained his legislative stance on student loan rates while The Roots and Jimmy Fallon interjected slow jam tropes, including calling him the “Barackness Monster” and doing a silky breakdown of “Hail to the Chief.” Can I bottle this as some sort of sweet sauce and pour it all over myself?
Yes, America — while you slept your president slow-jammed the news. Maybe Mitt Romney can go on Leno and jitterbug the news or something?
Also, this happened:

Daaaayum, POTUS. That’s cold.
Obama also copped to enjoying Comedy Central’s Key & Peele. This makes us happy.
UPDATE. This was indeed necessary:

(H/T: The High Definite, Julia Segal, and TheFrogman)

Well, really he slow-jammed the news around 5:30pm EST.
You aren’t passed out by 5:30 pm EST? Sometimes I question your commitment to UPROXX drinking club, my friend.
Then the hardest drinking Uproxxers have got to be over at withleather. Those guys are passed out by 3pm!
I’d argue it, but it’s true.
Obama also copped to enjoying Comedy Central’s Key & Peele. This makes us happy.
Speak for yourself.
I should note that I added that line, not Robo, mainly because a couple of guys who work on that show are working on a film that’s currently being filmed at my house. Had to kiss ass a little bit.
He got my vote “4 more years” YES! YES! YES!
Man, he is smooth – coolest politician ever – haters can only hate themselves, this dude is fresh ta def
Remember not too long ago when the band on Jimmy Fallon did an inappropriate song intro for Michelle Bachmann? And now the President goes on there, this is absolutely ridiculous. vote this jackass out! [www.huffingtonpost.com]
You’ll have to be a tad more specific. Where exactly can I vote you out?
Michelle Bachman is a human punchline so I don’t think it really matters.
Fishbone is never inappropriate.
I hope your name is actually Steve Irony, because that would be awesome.
That is the President? The punchline of a late night comedy routine? That? What a buffoon.
Oh Steve Irony. Can’t post with the same account twice.
And it violated Campaign Finance Laws:
“Only one problem, aside from the fact that this was possibly the worst “comedy” segment in the history of mankind: it violated campaign finance law.”
OH NO! NOT CAMPAIGN FINANCE LAW! THE GREATEST OF LAWS!
You think campaign finance laws are even slightly relevant after the Citizens United ruling, gonzo? Please. But I guess we can’t fault you for thinking what breitbart.com tells you to think. Doing your duty as an American.
Citizen’s United … Don’t care.
Why is Obama thought to be cool at all. He wears MOM jeans, rides a bike like a girl and can’t throw a baseball 60 feet. He’s an Erkel look alike dork with big ears.
And to be a punchline on a late night TV show as President of the United States is stupid and juvenile.
This was cool. I love the Presidents humor
