The National is one of my favorite bands. Game of Thrones is one of my favorite shows. Put the two together, and you’ve got: a really depressing song. “The Rains of Castamere,” which appears on Game of Thrones: Season Two soundtrack, due out June 19, is a dirge-like ballad about — gonna keep things vague here — a certain Lord’s victory over a certain House. Singer Matt Berninger’s voice barely raises above a deep whisper, while his bandmates play mournfully around him. It pairs nicely with their song from Portal 2.
The National live down the street from me and often hang out at a nearby bar, which doubles as a flower shop because, well, Brooklyn. Next time I see them there, I’m going to buy them SO much mead and ALL the barrels of wine. And then we’ll spend a nice evening discussing all the different ways we’d slap Joffrey.

“ALL the barrels of wine.”
I guess, in the end, all the wine WAS all for him.
Nice. I tried to shoehorn in “perfect piece of ass,” but it didn’t work.
You keep it vague, does that mean it could be considered a spoiler for the last two episodes of the season?
It’s about an event that happened before the show even begins; you only hear about it in the book. But I dunno, some people are picky. It’s easy enough to find the information if you’re interested. But I’d advise against it.
The Rains of Castamere was a song written about Lord Tywin Lannister’s crushing victory over rebellious House Reyne of Castamere and the destruction of the House at the end of their rebellion.
That’s the description listed in the Wiki of Ice and Fire. I would also advise against looking it up because you’re bound to stumble upon real, actual spoilers. I am not sure why Josh was loathe to present this simple explanation in this forum.
“because, well, Brooklyn.” LMAO.
Aw yeah, party like Ser Dontos.
When I heard this on Sunday, I thought it was Bronn singing it. My bad.
Gave me chills the first time I heard it.
On the UK broadcast, they stuck a fucking voiceover about the next show on top of it. Shit like this is why London rioted.
