I really thought my post on the ridiculous KISS book would be my last post on hair bands for the day, but then Twister Sister had to go and join the ranks of Rage Against the Machine and Silversun Pickups in screaming “WE’RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT” (see what I did there?) when it comes to the use of their music by the Romney/Ryan campaign.
Reports the LA Times:
After learning that Republican vice presidential hopeful Ryan had been warming up crowds with “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” the lead singer of Twisted Sister requested that the song be pulled from Ryan’s playlist.
But Snider, who was a vocal supporter of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s California gubernatorial campaign (and even sang a duet of “We’re Not Gonna Take It” with the future governor in 2003), isn’t happy about it. He issued the following statement Wednesday morning, replete with a body-building joke:
“I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan’s use of my song ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ as recorded by my band Twisted Sister. There is almost nothing on which I agree with Paul Ryan, except perhaps the use of the P90X.”
I don’t know about you, but the idea of Dee Snider doing P90X is funny to me.
Anyway, we should start a “which band will come out against the Romney/Ryan campaign next?” pool here on UPROXX. My money’s on Foo Fighters — if I were a politician I’m not sure if I could resist coming out to “Everlong.”
