I'm not sure if we've ever said anything nice about a music-based reality show, so you know we really mean it when we say: Britney Spears, the new host of Fox's The X Factor, is awesome. It's totally OK to admit, too. Yes, most of the late-1990s pop acts that you may or may not admit to loving then, but you totally did, are cringeworthy. Backstreet Boys? Nope. Ricky Martin? Not so much. LFO? Ha. But Britney, she's still around, acting a little loopy, a little goofy, a little brilliant (at least from a pop music perspective), a little refreshingly mean, and a lot sexy. Her reactions from the X Factor season premiere alone are already a thing of legend. Consider this our GIF tribute to the lovely Miss Spears, with selections from throughout her insane (in every sense of the word) career.
It's also worth nothing that her best song is "Lucky," and I will not hear arguments to the contrary.

I don’t need 30 reasons why it’s OK, but I have a millions reasons why I do. I remember the first time I heard of her – an online friend who was my age (16 at the time) had seen her in a mall (just before “…Baby One more time” came out. He emailed me (via AOL) a scanned copy of a signed picture he had gotten of her and was all “I met this new artist! She’s so pretty and nice.” She’s beautiful, she puts out great music. She’s just fantastic. I don’t care how much she sings live – her concerts are GREAT (I’ve seen her 4 times now). I just adore Britney. I am SO glad she has recovered from the trouble of 2007-2008. Those were dark days. My best friend and I visited her hometown and it was a straight up pilgrimage. I loved it.
