So, MTV's 2012 Video Music Awards happened. Even if you're the most obnoxious My Bloody Valentine and Hank Williams-loving snob, there was likely something for you to enjoy during last night's festivities. Mostly that something was Rihanna and Katy Perry's on-screen love affair, but hey, Frank Ocean performed, as did Green Day and Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg did something together and 2 Chainz rode around on a skateboard. That was...something.
If you didn't watch the VMAs, consider this your handy GIF recap of everything of note that happened. Plus, some videos of the performances, too. But seriously, Rihanna and Katy Perry.
Rihanna and Katy Perry stole the show because they're BFFs now, or something:

Green Day, who have played the VMAs more than anyone except Madonna, were the creepy old guys surrounded by teenage girls.

The U.S. Women's Gymnastics team was there, it was awkward:

Then Gabby Douglas did this during Alicia Keys new song:

Pink continued to be relevant, which all joking aside, is pretty amazing.

Though this happened:

Host Kevin Hart took the stage surrounded by little people, then told a "little security" joke, so instead of showing that, here's Peter Dinklage plotting to kill Kevin Hart.

Wiz Khalfia announced Amber Rose's pregnancy, which elicited about 1/4,485th the amount of enthusiasm as Jay-Z and Beyonce's Blue Ivy announcement did last year.

Oh yeah, and people played music:
"Thinkin' Bout You" by Frank Ocean
"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" by Taylor Swift
"Let Yourself Go" by Green Day
"Yuck/No Worries" by 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne

Wow. What an amazing collection of poorly dressed d-bags. Rare to see these days, what with Ed Hardy wear on the downslide now.
Hilariously enough, I knew of neither the VMAs or Obama’s speech.
tell us what it’s like to be free.
VMAs Miley Cyrus with Birdie mohawk #cangetit
Who has the Liz Lemon “Chris Brown is your fault, America” GIF? I feel like that’s a must anytime Chris Brown gets mentioned.
Still important, but not as GIFy
Glad to see for the Xth year in a row I missed nothing
BUT WAS MCKAYLA MARONEY UNIMPRESSED?
MTV giving out awards for music is like the Food Network giving out awards for literary excellence.
Or The Learning Channel having fat white trash slobs on… oh wait.. nevermind.
Music Video Awards. Man, it takes guts.
