Consider this a official reminder of Kanye West Week: a few days after GOOD Music’s Cruel Summer leaked onto the Internet, before its official release date this Tuesday, a video of Kanye rapping with his mother, Dr. Donda West (who passed away in 2007), went viral. The footage was shot in 2003, a year before The College Dropout turned Kanye into a superstar, and it shows the two of them discussing his lost rhymes. It’s a thrilling reminder that, yes, there was actually a point in time when Kanye West could be described as “humble.”
