It’s Christmas come early for the the Coldplay haters of the internet, of which there are many. For Coldplay lovers, well, every teardrop is a waterfall.
Reports the Herald Sun:
The British rockers played a concert in Brisbane on Wednesday after which frontman Chris Martin suggested the band has grown tired of touring.
Coldplay has been on tour since October 2011 promoting their latest record, Mylo Xyloto.
“This is the last big show for three years or so,” he told reporters after the show, while adding, “I don’t want to stop.”
The announcement came just a few days after the band hinted at the impending release of their next record.
Now, I’ve said before that I don’t hate Coldplay nearly as much as the average denizen of the internet seems to, nor do I really get why they’re hated with the passion they are hated with. Yes, I know that their stuff is pop-y and appealing to a mass audience, but I sometimes think people hate them solely because groupthink dictates they do so. To me, Gwyneth Paltrow is much more worthy of the hate than Chris Martin and his band are.
Still, I am on record for believing that their songs are often best performed by other people. So there’s that!

I love Coldplay, and I’m only slightly embarrassed to admit it.
i like coldplay too. there i said it!! its done!!
after nearly every album chris martin says something like this. don’t believe it. i guarantee in 12 months he’s gonna get tired of sitting around the house listening to Paltrow’s vapid cunt mouth running non-stop about designer plain white t-shirts and god knows what else and he’ll bail to the studio to start the new album
I too am a fan of the Coldplay.
I saw them live earlier this July, as a birthday present to my wife. They were so good that I’m now willingly seeing them again next month. I don’t really listen to their albums much, but they put on a hell of a show.
I like Coldplay, and I too am baffled at all the ill will. I suppose anything that gets as popular as they did is bound to be ripped to shreds by net commentators, most of whom likely don’t hate the band/whatever in question, or even particularly dislike it, but strongly resent its success compared to the lack thereof experienced by things that these people actually do like. Anyway, I thought about buying Mylo Xyloto for $5 over the weekend, but didn’t get to it, mainly because I already spent all I’m willing to spend on myself, on Parks & Rec and Archer DVDs and Dishonored and the God of War Saga.
guys, they’re cheesy as fuck. that’s a big part of the hate.
