Alas, John Lennon wasn’t resurrected, nor did the Dirty Mac reunite with Yoko Ono replacing her deceased husband on vocals, but something nearly as unexpected happened at the kick-off concert of the Rolling Stones’ 50th anniversary tour: they covered “I Wanna Be Your Man” by the Beatles. For the first time since 1964.
According to Consequence of Sound:
The Rolling Stones performed their first 50th anniversary concert at London’s O2 Arena on Sunday night. Kicking off with a cover of The Beatles’ “I Wanna Be Your Man,” the 23-song setlist proved to be one surprise after another. Mary J. Blige sang alongside Mick Jagger for “Gimme Shelter,” Jeff Beck played guitar during the live debut of “I’m Going Down,” and the London Youth Choir accompanied the Stones during an encore performance of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” What’s more, original Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman joined the band for “It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll (But I Like It)”, while former guitarist Mick Taylor appeared for “Midnight Rambler.” (Via)
In the 10 seconds it took you to read that block quote, the Stones earned another $43,292 in ticket sales.

In case this is still a thing, Beatles > Stones, always and forever.
Since it’s a flame war, Kinks > The Who.
Only if you’re a hipster, Beerguy.
Beatles is for people who like their music from the heart – aka sissies. Stones is for people who like their rock and roll from the crotch, the way it was always intended.
Stones > Beatles
Kinks > Who
Beatles>Stones..but my god The Who>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The Kinks.
Yeah, what this guy said.
Also, Monkees > Herman’s Hermits
The Stones have been better live for most of the last 50 years. Also, the Stones didn’t write Hello Goodbye, which is a major point in their favor.
Hi there –
Just came to say that the Beatles actually gave the Rolling Stones “I Wanna Be Your Man” back in 1963 when their first single, “Come On,” failed to chart. “I Wanna Be Your Man” was the Stones’ first number one single.
You’d think writing the best pop songs for a solid decade would earn the Kinks some damn respect around here.
Judging by that clip, Bill Wyman has been spending WAY too much time suntanning during his retirement.
Who are the Beatles?
