As far as Christmas songs go, “Last Christmas” by Wham! is one of the least awful (it’s certainly better than “Wonderful Christmas Time”). Fun fact: Barry Manilow filed a lawsuit against Wham! in 1985 because he felt there were striking similarities between their song and his “Can’t Smile Without You.” The matter was settled out-of-court, and all first-year proceeds were donated to charity. Anyway, the xx performed a minimal cover of the track on BBC Radio One Live Lounge this morning, which you can hear below. It does not sound like “Copacabana.”
