Earlier today, Cajun Boy called the New Orleans Jazz Festival “the best music festival you could ever attend.” Well, that correct-as-of-now claim was made before Kage and Jables, better known as the Greatest Band in the World, best known as Tenacious D, bestest known as Kyle Gass and Jack Black, revealed their plans for the “f*ckin’ Super Bowl of comedy-rock festivals” to Rolling Stone. According to the AV Club:
Tenacious D says it’s working on rounding up all its comedy-rock cohorts for a mega-festival to be held later this year. Festival Supreme is tentatively scheduled for October 19, 2013 at the Santa Monica Pier. So far only the D are confirmed to appear, but Jack Black and Kyle Gass tell Rolling Stone they’re aiming to construct “a f*ckin’ Super Bowl of comedy-rock,” with dream acts like Flight of the Conchords, the Lonely Island, Zach Galifianakis, Spinal Tap, Eric Idle, Tim Minchin, Neil Hamburger, Tim and Eric, people from Mr. Show, and South Park’s Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Naturally, Black cautions “there’s no guarantee who’s gonna be on the bill” and that “it might just be Tenacious D and Weird Al.” (Via)
If JB and KG (that’s me!) can get every name listed on their dream bill above, and book Dethklok, the Dead Milkmen, Garfunkel and Oates, and Frank Zappa’s corpse, too, no other music will cease to exist on October 19, 2013, for the sheer magnitude of awesomeness at the Santa Monica Pier will be too much for other bands to handle. But just Weird Al and Tenacious D would be pretty cool, too.

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.

This sounds amazing, but any comedy-rock ensemble cast has to include Steel Panther. [www.youtube.com]
What he said.
This truly is a cream dream, gonna be huge! I saw people are already camping out by the Santa Monica Pier.
They were hobos.
That explains a lot. The booze, the needles, and how they didn’t know who Jables or Rage Cage was. Either way they knew how to party.
I hear that the bloodhound gang is available. I saw their show in buenos aires and they killed it, an awesome show.
This for all the things. If this does come to fruition, I’m very glad I live in LA right now.
How am I just now hearing of this? I have tickets to their Old School Acoustic set in Pittsburgh on 3/05, but this show is also now on my radar for fall vacation.
