My face, it is gone, gone my face is, after watching Japandroids do their Japandroids thing (i.e. play rock music loudly) on Conan last night. The two-man band tore through “The Night of Wine and Roses,” from best-album-of-2012 Celebration Rock, and even with a terrible mix that had the way vocals WAY up front, they still sounded fantastic. And sweaty. And F*CK YEAH. And now I want to spend the rest of the day throwing rocks at things while drinking a beer and listening to “Adrenaline Nightshift.”
Japandroids will have that effect on you.

Such an epic live band. It’s physically impossible for their albums to ever be as good as seeing them in person.
Agreed. I was drenched after the show and could barely speak. Totally worth it.

look, i love their album. i love most of the live videos i’ve seen of them. but that was pretty fucking terrible. was the singer sick or something? i’m pretty sure he doesn’t usually sing so low. and they were just sloppy. and the shitty mix only heightened those issues.
My thoughts exactly. I get that you can’t really recreate the sound of their album in a live show, but he could at least do the same kind of vocals he did in the album, yelling at the top of his lungs, instead of doing what he did here. Pretty underwhelming.
I’ve seen them live and believe me, they usually sound amazing. Exactly like their album but louder and better. I dont know what happened here.
sounds horrible! I love Japandroids and I’ve seen them play last year. I think the mix is messed or something. Also the singer sounds off.
