The new music video for Tyler, the Creator’s “Domo 23,” from his upcoming album Wolf, has a little something for everyone, assuming “everyone” means fans of wrestling, ladies in bikinis, and crazy old men holding beer bottles in one hand and painted signs in the other. So, yeah, everyone, including Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliott, Tyler hopes.

I bet Busta’s Team Fookie Bookie. Also be sure to stick around until the end of the video, which according to Spin, is another song “called ‘Bimmer.’ Tyler raps a tiny bit more sensitively in a simple T-shirt and basketball-cap outfit, dropping Tame Impala references as the voice of OF affiliate Frank Ocean rains down from the rafters.”
That’s definitely for everyone.

I’m a little surprised. Tyler’s gone to great lengths to say his new album wasn’t going to be as immature and dark as his last two records, and that he’d been working a lot with BadBadNotGood to make it jazzier than his last two records, and here he comes out with a single that sounds exactly like his last two records. The little preview of the new track at the end was a welcome change of pace, but still, even though his flow has gotten stronger, he’s still rapping like a high school kid. Only difference is, now he’s got money.
Ah well. We still have Earl’s new record to hope for.
I know the Odd Future fad is kind of over (Frank Ocean aside), but this whole thing is great and i’m really looking forward to it.
@1:50 dude needs to learn to Boston crab.
I was a bit late to the Odd Future/Tyler stuff (except Frank Ocean-”Swim Good” is still one of my favorite songs two years later), but I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen and this doesn’t deter me at all. Here’s hoping they keep it coming.
