Father John Misty Fan Disturbed By Father John Misty's On-Stage Gyrations

Father John Misty, aka Joshua Tillman, is such a charismatic performer on stage (see this Letterman performance from last year for reference) that I’ve taken to giving a word of warning to male friends who’ve never seen him perform prior to attending one of his shows, a word of warning that goes something like this: “If you take a lady to a Father John Misty show, just accept the fact that she’s either going to want to sleep with him afterwards or is going to be thinking of him when she’s sleeping with you later.” That, my friends, is truth.

Never has this been better exemplified than in a letter Sub Pop — Father John Misty’s record label —posted to its Tumblr last night. It came from a Seattle man who professes to be a fan of FJM, but one who was disturbed by his on-stage dancing at a recent show. He writes…

“His dancing is a cross between Philip Seymour Hoffman’s character in Boogie Nights and the serial killer in Silence of the Lambs.”

They’re called mushrooms, Charles. You should try some.
