Here’s What It Sounds Like When An Entire Stadium Sings ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ While Waiting For Green Day

I’ve never hated Fiona Apple as much as I did last night. I was lucky enough to be in the front row during Kanye West’s impeccable Governors Ball show, which also meant I was unlucky enough to have to wait nine hours before Ye came onstage. During the wait between his set and Grizzly Bear’s, who performed before him, the PA system kept playing the same song four or five songs over and over again, including a live version of Traffic’s “Dear Mr. Fantasy” and tracks from Tame Impala, Radiohead, and Fiona Apple. Normally, I’d be stoked to get EMOTIONAL to the entirety of When the Pawn… with thousands of people, but not while waiting for this.

Apparently London is much more forgiving than I, based on the video below, in which approximately 60,000 concertgoers scream out Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” while waiting for Green Day. According to someone who was on the scene, “The crowd were going more crazy for this than any of the support acts. It is probably the closest i’ll get ever get to going to a Queen stadium gig.” What did we learn here? Fiona is TERRIBLE pump-up music, that’s what.
