Bruno Mars To Play The 2014 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Sorry, Up with Peopleheads — you’ll have to wait another year for Roger Goodell to return your phone calls.

[Bruno Mars] is expected to be tapped to perform at the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVIII next February, according to two people with knowledge of the matter. An announcement could come as early as this Sunday.

Neither the NFL, which produces the Pepsi-sponsored halftime show, or Fox, which is carrying the Super Bowl this season, would comment. An NFL spokesman would only jokingly say that Janet Jackson and Miley Cyrus have been ruled out as performers. (Via)

As all sportswriters will remind you every week for the next six months, CHILLY Super Bowl XLVIII will be held at COLD MetLife Stadium in ICY East Rutherford, New Jersey. Mars is a safe choice for the NFL and advertisers — he proved on SNL that he’s a natural showman — but the news comes as a disappointment to those who were hoping for another appearance from Springsteen. Backed by the E Street Band, Yo La Tengo, and Danzig, obviously.
