EMMITT SMITH

Emmitt James Smith III (born May 15, 1969 in Pensacola, Florida) is a former American football player. He played for the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals and is the NFL's all-time rushing leader, a record formerly held by his childhood hero, Walter Payton. He is the only running back to ever have won a Super Bowl championship, the NFL Most Valuable Player award, the NFL rushing crown, and the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award all in the same season (1993). He is also one of four running backs to lead the NFL in rushing three or more consecutive seasons, joining Steve Van Buren, Jim Brown, and Earl Campbell.

While playing for the Cowboys, Smith, Troy Aikman, and Michael Irvin were the "Triplets" who led their team to three Super Bowl championships during the 1990s. (via Wikipedia)

Go ahead, look at the list of inductees (you can sort by class) [...]

No Tailgate is Complete Without the Mobile Metal Pinata

via sportingnews.com ( 69 Days ago )
It's one thing to stand around and, as Emmitt Smith would recommend, "seranate" a stadium prior to kickoff. Ah, but there is so much more to it. Any aspiring true believer of the Tailgating Way knows to work wanton destruction into their gameday ritual. It's vital. And that's exactly what these super fans did in Atlanta on Sunday. They hauled in an already [...]

Note to Emmitt Smith: Tony Romo Is Good, but He's Never Gonna Be "That Guy"

via bleacherreport.com ( 73 Days ago )
Emmitt Smith made no new friends yesterday when he called out both Tony Romo and coach Wade Phillips of the Cowboys, saying, in essence, "Get your act together."Smith doesn't feel like Romo has made his presence felt as a quarterback in the Cowboys' locker room—he hasn't been the leader he said he would be.Well, if Emmitt and everyone else hasn't figured it out by now, Tony [...]

NFL Hall-of-Famer, “Dancing With the Stars” alumnus and hair-dye salesman Emmitt Smith – who butchered the English language for two years as part of ESPN’s stellar NFL commentary crew – has returned to public life with a fresh smock and a sharp set of knives. His targets this time around? Pigs, and the Dallas [...]

Jan. 2, 1994: The Day Emmitt Smith Carried America's Team

via bleacherreport.com ( 178 Days ago )
You could say Emmitt Smith carried the Dallas Cowboys, better known as America's Team, many times over the course of his Hall of Fame career. I was born a fan of America's Team, so I never had the moment that made me a fan. On Jan. 2, 1994, however, I became a fan forever. The Cowboys won their first Super Bowl since my diaper years following the 1992 season.  Going in to the [...]

Emmitt Smith, Forgotten But Not Gone

via profootballtalk.com ( 193 Days ago )
Emmitt Smith is one of the greatest running backs in league history.  Not the fastest or the shiftiest or the biggest or the strongest, Smith was the most consistent and durable ball-carrier we’ve ever seen. With the wheels coming off many of his peers at much younger ages, Smith continued to rack up excellent numbers well

Matt Millen To ESPN

via thebiglead.com ( 217 Days ago )
Yesterday, in the midst of a banner day at Deadspin, AJ took time out from his usual weekend activities to report that Matt Millen will fill the vacancy left by  Emmitt Smith on Monday Night Countdown. Why would they want someone who most recently ran Ty Duffy’s favorite football franchise into the ground? Who knows, but they do. Millen’s stint with the Lions was memorable [...]
