MANNY RAMIREZ

Manuel "Manny" Aristides Ramírez Onelcida (born May 30, 1972 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) is a Dominican-American professional baseball player who is currently a free agent. A nine-time Silver Slugger, and one of twenty-four people to have hit over 500 career home runs, he is well recognized for his strong offensive abilities. He has the most career grand slams of any active player - and the second most of any player after Lou Gehrig, and has led the American League in three key batting measures: batting average, home runs and runs batted in. For the past eleven years, Ramirez has been a fixture in the All-Star Game, and is a twelve-time All-Star. Ramirez has hit 28 home runs in the postseason in his career, #1 all time. In 2004, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the World Series after helping the Boston Red Sox win their first World Series championship in 86 years. Ramirez' authorized biography, titled "Becoming Manny: Inside the Life of Baseball's Most Enigmatic Slugger" is scheduled for release in bookstores March 10, 2009. (via Wikipedia)

With the increasing popularity of steroids [...]

Noting [...]

Even though I’ve more or less given up on what used to be my favorite NBA team — and have seen my alternate favorites announce that they’ll be bringing Blake Griffin off the bench in favor of a guy who looks like an extra from the recent remake of The Hills Have Eyes — I still get excited for this time of year, basketball-wise. There’s still a sense [...]

Manny Being Mediocre

by Jeff FletcherFiled under: DodgersSAN FRANCISCO -- This is the problem with doing what Manny Ramirez did last year. It's an awful high bar to reach again.
