MCG

Joseph "McG" McGinty Nichol (born August 9, 1968) is an American film and television producer and director. He was nicknamed McG from birth to differentiate him from his uncle and grandfather, both of whom are also named Joe

Impressed with McG's recent flashy and energetic videos, Drew Barrymore approached McG about directing a Charlie's Angels film. He accepted, wanting to take on bigger projects, and pitched the movie to studio executives, who later green-lighted the project. The film was released in 2000 and went on to gross well over $200 million worldwide with mixed critical reception from critics and fans alike. A sequel immediately followed, and, although not as successful as the first, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle made over $200 million worldwide as well.

His next work was We Are Marshall, a sports drama film. He is currently in post-production on the next installment of the Terminator franchise: Terminator Salvation. McG is next expected to direct a prequel to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for Disney, and then a fifth Terminator sequel. He wants Will Smith for Captain Nemo.

For his television work, McG created Fastlane, which was eventually canceled but is now available on home video. He is also an executive producer on The Mountain, The O.C., the Pussycat Dolls Present: series, Supernatural, and Chuck, the latter of which he directed the Pilot and all of which are co-produced with his production company, Wonderland Sound and Vision. He was the executive producer for the WB Television Network's new online portal as well. One of the series, Sorority Forever, is produced in conjunction with Big Fantastic, the creators of the online series Prom Queen.

In December 11, 2008, McG was awarded the Kodak filmmaker of the year by CineAsia (via Wikipedia)

Rumor Patrol: McG Making More Terminator Films?

via screenrant.com ( 64 Days ago )
So director McG recently did one of those BD Live screening sessions for the Terminator Salvation Blu-ray release (these BD Live screenings are really becoming all the rage). During the screening, discussion apparently turned toward future installments of the Terminator franchise and McG apparently claimed that he will in fact be back to direct the fifth and sixth installments [...]

'Captain Nemo' Is Dead in the Water at Disney

via cinematical.com ( 84 Days ago )
The klaxons are sounding for the Nautilus and Captain Nemo's origin story. Variety reports that Disney has quietly shelved the project, and McG has been released from duty in order to seek better fortune ashore. The project was scheduled to begin production this February, and was on a fast track under Dick Cook. But as you probably remember, Cook was shown the door a few months [...]

Moon Bloodgood Wearing Nothing But Rain! And Pants

via iwatchstuff.com ( 102 Days ago )
When McG started making Terminator Salvation, he went in wanting, first and foremost, to correct what he believed was the biggest shortcoming he showed in his work on the Charlie's Angel films: this time, he would see a bare boob. So, the director told Terminator star Moon Bloodgood that rain makes things artistic, and got the actress to take her top off for a few seconds in one [...]

MPAA Rates Terminator Salvation Director’s Cut R For ‘Some Violence and Brief Nudity’

via slashfilm.com ( 167 Days ago )
That man McG seems to change his story an awful lot. I can’t even unravel all of the threads of argument about the rating for Terminator Salvation (something… about… pizza?) but I do recall that, at various times, it was either fully intentional or fully unintentional that Moon Bloodgood’s infamous breast-baring not be part of the final cut. And how much [...]

McG Talks About His Plans for Terminator 5 & 20,000 Leagues

via firstshowing.net ( 186 Days ago )
Coming out of this summer, I'm not sure McG will be a director most people are excited to see more from, but he might be able to redeem himself. McG talked with both IGN and RadioFree recently and opened up about his plans for both Terminator 5 and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, which are both in active development. "I'm prepping 20,000 Leagues every day, but I'm concurrently prepping [...]

McG has been hyping the upcoming TV series Human Target on the TCA press tour and by the by discussing his plans for another Terminator and also his 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea adaptation. McG Is Sinking To 20,000 Leagues

via latinoreview.com ( 186 Days ago )
Terminator Salvation might have been a $200 million dollar exercise in ruining continuity, but it managed to pull in $341 million to date and will undoubtedly lead to a fifth Terminator film. Just not directly. What's coming up next from the now-blockbuster director is a remake of Disney's first live action film, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. McG broke radio silence to RadioFree, [...]
