RYAN SPILBORGHS

Ryan Adam Spilborghs (born September 5, 1979, in Santa Barbara, California) is a Major League Baseball outfielder with the Colorado Rockies.

The Rockies drafted Spilborghs in the seventh round of the 2002 draft out of the University of California, Santa Barbara. He played for the Madison Mallards during the summer of 2001 during his collegiate career. Spilborghs is of mixed descent, as his father is Belgian, and his mother is Guatamalan.

On July 20, 2009, Ryan's wife gave birth to their daughter and first child. Her middle name, Esperanza (which means hope in Spanish), was chosen after his mother's first name, who died during spring training earlier in the year. (via Wikipedia)

Judgment Daze: San Francisco Giants Must Win or Face the Music

via bleacherreport.com ( 73 Days ago )
Aug. 24 is now a distant memory, although it didn't seem like it was all too long ago that Ryan Spilborghs upgraded his wheels to blaze around the basepaths.  Forget the Edgar Renteria salami against the Rockies that was a cordial slap-in-the-face back at Colorado. Tit for tat. That's all erroneous at this point. Just another highlight immovable in the mud that is the 162-game [...]

‘I LOVE YOU, Ryan Spilborghs!’

There’s something very Scorsese about a grand slam in extra innings. It’s a bit like sitting through a four-hour mob movie, only to see one guy empty an entire machine gun into another guy when just one bullet will do. It’s more gratuitous than awesome, but still awesome. Anyway, Colorado Rockies outfielder Ryan Spilborghs did hit a grand slam of the 14th inning–after [...]

And That Happened

Rockies 6, Giants 4: Walkoff grand slam in the 14th for Ryan Spilborghs after the Rockies started their half of the inning down 4-1. Colorado is starting to smell like a team of destiny. At any rate, they've won seven of eight and are now four games ahead of the Giants for the NL wild card. Phillies 6, Mets 2: If I can't give John Smoltz full credit for pitching against the Padres [...]
