VOTD: Battlestar Galactica Version of the Beastie Boys’ Sabotage Music Video
katamaran78 has created “Galactica: Sabotage”, a remake of Spike Jonze’s now classic music video for the Beastie Boys song Sabotage, but edited together using footage from Battlestar Galactica. I was very impressed how the video was copied almost shot-for-shot, so much so the creator also released a side by side comparison of the two videos. Both of which can be viewed, [...]
Beastiestar Galactica
Who knew you could make an almost perfect shot-for-shot remake of the Beastie Boys' Spike Jonze-directed video "Sabotage" using only footage from the new Battlestar Galactica series? This guy, apparently. Unlike some, I liked the new BSG (what I saw of it) but I will readily admit it could have been much improved if Gaius Baltar had been called "Loco" and Starbuck's real [...]

Here are some little less known things about the fantastic duo, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, behind Opening Ceremony—the quintessential hip spot for uncovering rare coveted items and unique accouterments—that they can not only finish each other’s sentences, but they can speak in unison. Friends since college days, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon started Opening Ceremony with a [...]

Shrek the Third Screenwriter Adapting Harold and the Purple Crayon?
Before Where the Wild Things Are, and even before Being John Malkovich, Spike Jonze was developing a big screen adaptation of the acclaimed 1955 children’s book Harold and the Purple Crayon. Harold and the Purple Crayon tells the story of a curious four-year-old boy who draws his reality and lives in the imaginary world he creates. The film famously fell apart a mere two weeks [...]
Watch David Cross, Spike Jonze and Will Arnett in The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret
Since it was first announced I’ve been pretty thrilled for The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret. The UK show stars David Cross as a doltish American sent to London to head up the promotions for an energy drink. He makes what might be called his best effort, but things go…poorly. The show is UK only for now, but thanks to the miracle of YouTube you can watch the [...]
NEW SPIKE JONZE THING LOOKS AWESOME AND WEIRD
Much as I like Spike Jonze’s movies, I like his weird short videos even more (see also: the short he did in which Kanye West carves a strange little man out of his belly). These pictures come from Higglety Pigglety Pop or There Must be More to Life (an adaptation of a Maurice Sendak book), a 23-minute short Jonze produced which will be attached to the blu-Ray of Where the [...]
