"Here’s A ‘Game Of Thrones’ Sigil For Every NFL Team"
As a Vikings fan, I thought that one was epic . May change my Fantasy Team Icon to this….
Oh Man, that DC one has many interpretations.
I love that the Eagle’s head is facing the opposite way of the body.
Uhm… That’s the Panther’s old logo from a couple season back…..
And the Jags and Dolphins logos are from last year as well
Should have went with the Sons of Winter for Green Bay
As a Bills fan -damn. Bowed bent broken. It’s accurate but damn it hurts.
Christ. Is that supposed to be positive in some way?
Seems like that’s the only one that’s negative. Can’t necessarily argue it … but damn.
There’s a second version somewhere on the Interwebs that says “Beware the Stampede” and doesn’t make me die a little bit inside.
Am I the only person who saw the Raiders one ironically? Not only the giant LA, but also “Nightmare Abyss” sounds like an apt description for living in Oakland.
I had no idea the Chargers old logo looked like that, it could have been a coat of arms on its own [upload.wikimedia.org]
The dog on the cleveland one is too friendly to be a dog of war. Needs something with a spiked collar and teeth dripping saliva.
I like that Chargers emblem, though “fully charged” doesn’t quite work for me.
The Panthers’ tag line should just be “LOUD GROWLING SOUND EFFECT.”
“We Thought Clausen Was A Good Idea”
Redskins Motto: “Let Slip the Hogs of War…Whatever Farm Animal of War, Lana, Shut Up!”
Best motto goes to the Niners.
Came here to say that. And I hate the Niners.
Agreed and somewhat agreed, since I have CK as one of my QB’s I will watch an unfortunate amount of Niner’s football this season.
Though upon second look the motto should be reversed.
It’s cool that the Steelers one contains a misspelling.
That ruined this post for me, and I am not a Steelers fan.
The Buffalo one is so sad.
Truly they are the Starks of the NFL. Constantly shit on, defenders of the north. We are the only thing stopping the White Canadians from coming into this land.
@Nussy – my wife and I literally had that exact same conversation.
The Patriots are the Lannisters – everyone but Patriots fans loathe the Patriots and can’t wait for bad things to happen to them
I think I’d prefer something more along the lines of, “History Repeats. The North Remembers.” Could be good or bad depending on perspective.
But who is Joffrey then? And is Brady Jamie?
Belichick is clearly Tywin, that makes Josh McDaniels Joffrey — too young to grasp what power he could have, still a puppet of those above him, what decisions he makes (Tebow!) are horrid, and he’s only where he is because of the man that spawned him. McDaniels has probably killed fewer prostitutes though.
Brady is Jamie, yes. Because just like the “Kingslayer” is misunderstood as a vicious betrayer, Brady is misunderstood…he’s not a great QB by any means (just WATCH his last few playoff performances), he’s just in a great system with great support, and deep down we know he doesn’t even want to be a QB, just like Jamie doesn’t want to be the man he’s perceived to be…Brady wants to be a model, probably.
I think the Saints one feels the most Game of Thrones-y while still being 100% cool for the team.
The Lions “What is dead can never die” is both epic and apropos.
Is that a “west side story” reference in the Jets once?
These will be perfect for my team, The Denarius Targaryens
Chargers is clever use of the war horse, but it would have been nice to find a way to reference the crest of Barrick Dondarrion — the lightning lord. His colors are purple and black, so that nizes the color aspect, but maybe incorporate his four-pointed stars.
Also, how could they bypass an obvious Valyrian Steelers reference?
And Detroit (because of the sigil) or San Fran (because of its colors and history of gold) are missed opportunities to have fun with a Lannisters reference. Similarly, I think the Ravens was a missed opportunity.
I absolutely loved the Buffalo one. And the design of the Titans and Jags are really sweet, too.
*nixes, not nizes.
Bingo. Valyrian Steelers should’ve been a layup.
I actually clicked to see specifically what they did with “Steel” for that reason. And all I got was a misspelling. Weak sauce.
Kind of disappointed in the Bears, so maybe it fits now that I think about it.
I am rather disappointed that the Giants banner played on the color of the uniforms and not the fact the team is called the GIANTS!
“Towering Over All”
“Gods Among Men”
“Our Dicks Are Huge”
Any of these would have been better.
The Giants logo should have been “HODOR HODOR HODOR”
You win mrzeigler
I think there’s got to be a way to work in a 300 foot giant lady liberty reference, but I haven’t figured it out yet.
Wow, they’re not all great but it’s shocking how good most of these are.
No way in hell should the Jets get an F-14 silhouette. They aren’t worthy of it.
The Seattle one is so lazy! It looks like someone sprinkled powdered sugar all over it.
This is the best jets one
I’m a bit disappointed that the Bears sigil doesn’t make reference to “the Maiden Fair”.
The Buffalo sigil is a reference to the ‘house words’ of House Martel from the Game of Thrones series; “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken”
Why is the Bears one so WEAK and plain?!
I can’t believe they didn’t use “Unleash the Dragon”. or perhaps “Our Cannon is Sex”.
Pretty crappy of you to give the Bills the only one that isn’t the least bit positive. Even the Browns and Jaguars for something cool.
I thought the Pats one was a pretty solid dig.
