Best Thing You’ll Watch Today: Marlins Pitcher Jose Fernandez’s Heartwarming Reunion With His Grandmother

I’ve spent a lot of years making a lot of mean-spirited baseball jokes, so I’m going to take a step back from that and let you watch one of the coolest baseball videos of the year.

During an interview, Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez spoke about how much he missed the grandmother he left when he came over from Cuba. Because Jeffrey Loria isn’t always the heartless, witch-fingered balrog we’ve learned to hate so venomously in the sports media (or someone who works for him is awesome and doesn’t are about getting credit, which is probably more likely), the Marlins brought Jose’s grandmother to the United States and set the stage for an emotional reunion.

Warning: This video’s gonna make you feel a lot of warm stuff.

She was there sitting beside him when he found out he’d won the 2013 NL Rookie of the Year. How perfect is that?
