The Philadelphia Flyers Put A Returning Soldier In A GI Joe Box To Surprise His Family

So the Philadelphia Flyers combined two of the best things in the world — Christmas and soldiers returning unexpectedly to surprise their families — by dressing up a soldier inside of a life-size GI Joe action figure box, wrapping him up like a Christmas present and presenting him to his family during a game. It’s the kind of wonderful, tear-causing thing you should share with everybody you know.

That said, my favorite part of the clip is the announcer making sure everyone watching knows EXACTLY what has happened. SEE WHAT HAPPENED WAS THIS SOLDIER WAS COMING HOME BUT HE WASN’T SUPPOSED TO BE HERE UNTIL THREE WEEKS FROM NOW AND HIS FAMILY WAS EXPECTING HIM THEN BUT WE BROUGHT HIM HERE EARLY, AND SO WE PUT HIM IN A GI JOE BOX, BUT LIKE A BIG ONE BECAUSE HE’S BIGGER THAN AN ACTION FIGURE and so on. That’s actually not far from being an accurate transcript. I love it.

If you have some people in your life who hate Christmas and happy families, send it to them and tell them it’s Frank Caliendo pretending to be a hockey announcer.
