State Attorney: FSU QB Jameis Winston Will Not Be Charged With Sexual Assault

Jeff Cameron of The Jeff Cameron Show on ESPN Radio 97.9 in Tallahassee broke the news that Florida State Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston will not be charged with sexual assault, per ESPN. The freshman standout that has led the Seminoles to the No. 1 spot in the BCS rankings had been accused of sexually assaulting a woman last year, and the case was reopened several weeks ago after TMZ had reported that Winston was the man being accused of rape and that Tallahassee police officers covered it up.

At the opening of his press conference that began at 2 PM ET, State Attorney Willie Meggs confirmed that Winston will not be charged, and he declared that he did not feel that there was sufficient evidence to make any charges. He was also asked if this was a situation of someone being treated differently because of who he is, but Meggs stated that he believes that they treat every case equally and there was no special treatment for Winston.
