Merril Hoge Thinks That Johnny Manziel Has 'Bust Written All Over Him'

There are a lot of people in Texas who think that the Houston Texans should roll the dice on their next two or three seasons by selecting Johnny Manziel No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft. A LOT. When it comes to NFL analysts, though, the general thought seems to be that Blake “BORT” Bortles is the safest pick for a QB, with Manziel and Teddy Bridgewater right behind him. Basically, any one of those three QBs is a quality Top 10 pick, according to the usual suspects, and one of them is going to be doomed to at least one season of being eaten alive in Oakland.

But Merril Hoge isn’t buying the hype on Johnny Football. No sir, the man with TV’s fattest tie knots thinks that while the Texas A&M star and Heisman Trophy winner is exciting to watch, he doesn’t have a skillset that will transfer to the NFL. Hoge thinks that Manziel’s poor decision-making will be the end of him, and he has “bust written all over him.” And you know he’s serious, because Hoge based his damning declaration on two whole plays.

To play devil’s avocado, Hoge could very well be right about Manziel, but I hope he’s wrong just so ESPN can have Mike Ditka scream at him some more.
