As you may have heard, the Daily Show and the Colbert Report have been exposing the ridiculous laws surrounding campaign finance by starting the Colbert Super PAC and announcing Stephen Colbert's candidacy for The President of the United States of South Carolina.

What the Daily Show and the Colbert Report have been doing of late with the whole Colbert Super PAC and Colbert's quest to become president of the United States of South Carolina is some of the finest political satire you're ever going to see.

Last night on the Daily Show Jon Stewart shared some insight into how his daily life has changed since he took over operations of the super PAC started by Stephen Colbert: In addition to running ads accusing Mitt Romney of being a serial killer, Stewart has taken to wearing a jeweled crown allegedly once owned by Elizabeth Taylor, along with bringing in Mario Batalli to be his personal chef.

As you're well aware if you've been spending time around these parts lately, Stephen Colbert is running for "President of the United States of South Carolina." And what does any good tongue-in-cheek campaign need.

In addition to watching the NFL playoffs hungover on my couch yesterday afternoon, I spent some time reading the massive profile the New York Times magazine did on Stephen Colbert, a profile that focused mainly on Colbert's shenanigans as an outlandish fictional character trying to influence American politics with his Colbert Super Pac, but included some interesting background information on how the show came to be.
